Four Winds at Malahat SkyWalk
A celebration of Indigenous culture, land, and connection | Sept 27 & 28, 11am-3pm

Created in Collaboration With Malahat Nation
This event is about the joy of learning and the power of meaningful connection.
This September, gather with us in the trees for Four Winds, a weekend of honouring, learning, and celebrating. In collaboration with Malahat Nation, we invite you to listen, witness, and take part in meaningful moments shared by Indigenous artists, makers, and cultural leaders from across South Vancouver Island.
In honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Four Winds offers a space to experience Indigenous culture through traditional drumming and dance, children’s workshops, live carving demonstrations, and more. This open, participatory event is a chance to learn, connect, and build shared respect together.

Our Collaboration
A Message from a Malahat Community Member
We are honored to share this message from Matthew Harry, a proud member of the Malahat community, about the upcoming Four Winds event:
"Hello, I am Matthew Harry, proud Malahat community member. This September at the Malahat Skywalk, we are going to celebrate Firat Nation entrepreneurship, showcasing Malahat and surrounding communities by highlighting jewelry, arts, crafts and First Nation culture with the Tzinquaw dance group. This is brought to you in collaboration by Malahat Nation and Malahat Skywalk."

About Malahat Nation
Malahat Nation is a proud Coast Salish community and one of the five W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) Nations. Their traditional territory spans the region for which they are named, the Malahat, one of the most sacred sites on southern Vancouver Island. Today, Malahat Nation is home to a vibrant and growing population, guided by values of community, cultural respect, and long-term stewardship of their lands and people.

Why Four Winds Matters
Across many Indigenous cultures, the Four Winds carry deep symbolic meaning - representing the elements, seasons, and stages of life. Our event builds on that framework, offering an invitation to listen, learn, celebrate, and grow together.
We are honoured to host this event in partnership with Malahat Nation, whose vision and leadership guide our shared efforts. While Four Winds is rooted in Malahat territory, it is a celebration of many voices, with artists and cultural leaders from several Indigenous Nations across South Vancouver Island joining together in the spirit of connection.

A Gathering for Connection and Understanding
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada put forward 94 Calls to Action, pathways to deeper understanding, justice, and healing. At Malahat SkyWalk, we believe that learning happens through experience, relationship, and openness. Four Winds is a gathering to create space for these values to be lived. This event is about the joy of learning and the power of meaningful connection.

Participate with Respect and Care
We invite you to listen and learn with an open heart to the stories and teachings shared by the artists and knowledge keepers. Please ask permission before photographing any performer or vendor. If invited to join interactive moments, approach them with humility and respect for the traditions being shared.
By following these simple guidelines, you help create a safe and welcoming space for everyone to learn, celebrate, and connect. This event honours the joy of learning and the power of meaningful connection.
Join the Journey of Meaningful Connection
At Four Winds, every story shared and every moment experienced is an invitation to deepen our understanding and build connection.
