MALAHAT SKYWALK CELEBRATES SUMMER WITH CULTURE, CREATIVITY, NATURE AND COMMUNITY

~ A full season of events begins with A Day of Culture, Story & Celebration for National Indigenous Peoples Day~

MALAHAT, BC (June 14, 2026) - Malahat SkyWalk is welcoming summer with a vibrant lineup of events designed to bring guests closer to culture, nature, creativity, and community from high above the Salish Sea.

The season begins with A Day of Culture, Story & Celebration: National Indigenous Peoples Day at Malahat SkyWalk on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Set against the natural beauty of the forest, sea, and sky, the day will honour National Indigenous Peoples Day through performance, storytelling, artistry, live demonstrations, and meaningful moments of connection.

Guests will experience dance performances from the RunningBear and GrowingThunder Family, along with Indigenous artisan booths, beading, creative demonstrations, and cultural experiences throughout the site. The event invites guests of all ages to come together with curiosity, respect, and an open heart as Malahat SkyWalk celebrates Indigenous culture, creativity, and the stories that continue to shape this land.

“We are honoured to create space for Indigenous artists, performers, makers, and cultural contributors to share their work with our guests,” says Nathan Bird, General Manager of Malahat SkyWalk. “National Indigenous Peoples Day is an important opportunity to celebrate culture, story, and community, and we’re proud to welcome guests to experience that in such a powerful natural setting.”

Following National Indigenous Peoples Day, Malahat SkyWalk will continue the summer with a growing calendar of experiences for all ages.

Beginning July 9, guests can take flight with Flight Path: A Summer Birding Series, a new birding program featuring The Raptors. The series will celebrate the wonder of birds through engaging onsite experiences, up-close learning opportunities, and activities designed for nature lovers, families, and curious minds alike.

Throughout the summer, guests can also join the SkyWalk Creative Club, a hands-on creative series featuring fun art classes and activities for all ages. From nature-inspired projects to playful guided workshops, the Creative Club is designed to spark imagination and give guests a new way to connect with the landscape around them.

On July 29, Malahat SkyWalk will host the Cowichan Valley Wine Festival Kick-Off, an elevated evening celebrating the region’s vineyards, winemakers, and the passion that goes into every pour. Set at one of Vancouver Island’s most unforgettable viewpoints, the event will bring together Cowichan wineries, local flavour, and a spectacular summer setting.

Additional events, performances, workshops, and seasonal experiences will be announced throughout the summer.

Guests are encouraged to follow Malahat SkyWalk on social media and sign up for the newsletter to stay connected as new events are added to the summer calendar.
