Malahat SkyWalk is seeking new team members who are passionate about the outdoors and wish to share this beautiful tourism experience with visitors from around the world!

We are looking for a full time, safety minded, well-rounded General Maintenance individual. The successful candidate will be able to perform required maintenance duties and make sound decisions with limited oversight. This individual will look for work that needs to be completed and will not wait to be asked.

Responsabilities (include but are not limited to)

  • Operating a variety of equipment and hand tools in a safe and efficient way, according to all policies and procedures to fulfill job duties, including but not limited to leaf-blowers, woodchippers, brush saws, chainsaws.
  • Assisting with trail maintenance and invasive species removal.
  • Providing a safe, informative, and exceptional experience for guests.
  • Monitoring activities for risk management, and assessing and intervening when situations require.
  • Assisting Director of Operations and Maintenance Supervisor with inspections. Completing ongoing inspections of the site in accordance with company policies and relevant safety protocols, reporting any safety hazards to the supervisor on duty.
  • Understanding and adhering to construction principles and procedures.
  • Performing various maintenance tasks.
  • Assisting with daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections.
  • Performing daily and preventative maintenance tasks in support of the Welcome Centre, elevated walkway, spiral tower, HVAC, septic and water systems.
  • Performing setup and cleanup tasks at the job site. Providing Labour support as needed for external vendors.
  • Adhering strictly to all company policies and procedures with specific focus on maintenance and safety policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Site-wide snow removal as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and balance conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with other departments in achieving company goals.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to interact positively with employees, management, and guests.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs.
  • Wear and maintain company provided Uniform and other Personal Protective Equipment is required as applicable.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance instructions, manuals, safety rules, and other documents.
  • Experience with maintenance, drywall, painting, and other small repairs.
  • Experience operating small, mechanized equipment such as but not limited to chainsaw, power hand tools and other technical trade-related equipment.
  • Working knowledge of facilities, machines, and equipment with an understanding and working knowledge of the technical features of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, commercial septic systems, commercial water treatment systems, HVAC and heating systems.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle; possess and maintain a valid drivers’ license.
  • This position is physically demanding; you must be comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather/extreme weather fluctuations, at heights of 100+ feet, be in good physical health able to be on your feet for 8 hours; and able to safely lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Experience with Food Equipment repair is considered an asset.
  • A basic understanding of septic, HVAC, and water systems will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of electrical is considered an asset.

Pay Range: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
